A woman killed in a car crash in county Donegal yesterday was originally from Derry - Londonderry.
The women have been named locally as 38 year old Maria Wallace and 19 year old Kiara Baird who was originally from county Dublin.
The single car crash happened on the Glenfin Road near Ballybofey at around 4.15pm yesterday afternoon.
Donegal County Councillor Gary Doherty knew the mother of three:
“One of the women involved has a son in the same year at school as my own son, as well as two other children.
“It’s absolutely heartbreaking to know that there are three children who will have to grow up without their mummy.
“Thankfully I know that the young people yesterday were rallying around and giving as much support as they could to the three children and that was heart-warming to know.”
A man in his 40’s who was also in the car was also treated in Letterkenny University Hospital for non life threatening injuries.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
