Ciaron Harkin joined the Bannsiders from Institute on two-and-a-half year contract
New Coleraine midfielder Ciaron Harkin says he is ‘delighted’ to have signed for the Bannsiders after making the move from institute
The former Derry City signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Stripes. In a statemenmt to the Club's social media, Harkin said it was tough to leave the Riverside, but he was excited to link up with Oran Kearney's side
“I am delighted to have signed for Coleraine as I have been a fan of Irish League football for a few years now." said Harkin“It was a hard decision leaving Institute as I have enjoyed my time at the club, but I hope the players go on and get promoted this year as they deserve it.
The 20 years-old, the midfielder was captain at Institute, despite his tender years. Harkin missed Institute’s Irish Cup victory at Ballyclare Comrades last weekend meaning he is eligible in the competition for his new employers.
“I think it is a great time to make the step-up and I am ready for it,” said Harkin“It was great that Oran was watching me play and knowing that a Premiership manager had so much interest in signing me made the decision to sign for Coleraine far easier.
“I know a few of the players and played with few before,” Harkin added. “When I spoke to Oran, he mentioned a lot about the young players playing key roles in the team and it did it help me with the decision knowing that will fit in well to that.”
