Ports say they'll appeal decision ordering the club to pay £7,000 in unpaid wages to Peter McMahon.
Portadown FC are to appeal an employment tribunal decision ordering them to pay £7,000 of unpaid wages to winger Peter McMahon.
The Ports initially made the decision to withhold payment from McMahon, "following his refusal to accept Professional medical advice by a senior consultant." The club statement also said that McMahon "has not turned up to his place of employment or provided the club with any written medical advice contrary to that provided by the consultant."

Portadown argue that the tribunal was held without a club representative present. Portadown applied in writing for the tribunal to be postponed with the club saying their representative could not attend the hearing because of a "long standing engagement".
McMahon was the player involved in the registration case which let to the Port's 12-point deduction before the start of the current season. In June an IFA disciplinary hearing ruled that McMahon had been paid while registered as an amateur.
Portadown Club Statement In Full
"Following the Employment Tribunal’s decision today to award Peter McMahon the sum of £7,000 in unpaid wages, Portadown Football Club wish to clarify the matter as follows.
An IFA tribunal upheld Portadown FC’s decision by the Manager, to withhold payment to Peter McMahon, following his refusal to accept Professional medical advice by a senior consultant.
The player has not turned up to his place of employment or provided the Club with any written medical advice contrary to that provided by the consultant.
As our representative has been on holidays and only received the notification in the last few days, he applied in writing to have the hearing postponed, as a long standing engagement was scheduled for today.
This submission was acknowledged by the Employment Tribunal; however they decided to hold it in our absence.
Portadown FC will be appealing the decision as they feel that all the evidence supports the Clubs’ decision to withhold payment to the player.
