'Gavin and Stacey' actor Mathew Horne had to leave the stage after he banged his head during a West End show this week.

The 'Gavin and Stacey' actor - who is reprising his role as Gavin Shipman in the Christmas special finale next week - is currently treading the boards in 'The Tempest' at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London, but he suffered an accident just 10 minutes into Tuesday's (17.12.24) performance.

As reported by The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column, he hit his forehead on a rock on stage as he rolled on the floor as part of the show.

He had to leave the stage for around 15 minutes, but returned to continue the production.

An audience member told the outlet: "Mathew’s forehead had a big, red mark on it and it looked pretty painful, even from far away in the theatre.

"He was clearly in pain so they stopped the show as a precautionary measure to give him a once-over.

“It was about 15 minutes before the cast eventually returned to the stage, including Mathew, but his forehead looked sore."

The audience member described Mathew as a "trooper" for the way he responded.

They added: "He was a real trooper to finish the show because it can’t have been comfortable.”

Meanwhile, Mathew's 'Gavin and Stacey' co-star Joanna Page recently revealed she accidentally got burned on her last day filming as Stacey Shipman.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, she said: "On the last day on set, I was thinking ‘pull yourself together’, but I was in such a state I knocked my boiling hot coffee over myself in make-up.

“I had to get the costume department to wash my clothes."

But Joanna thinks the injury was "good" because it gave her the "shock" she needed to get her emotions in check.

She added: "It was good, as the shock of being scalded shook me out of it.”
