Officials are testing people in the area

BY Q Radio News

A  primary school located in an area where the Public Health Agency is carrying out enhanced testing has confirmed several of its pupils have tested positive for Covid 19.

Leaney Primary in Ballymoney says affected pupils and their classmates will now isolate until the end of term under government guidelines.

Last week the Department of Health began enhanced testing in the area as well as in Omagh because of fears over the spread of the Delta variant.

The first results of those tests are expected tomorrow.

In a note sent to parents, seen by Q Radio, pupils from three classes in the school have been asked to self-isolate at home after positive cases were detected.

A spokeswoman from the Education Authority said that they do not comment on individual cases, but added that "the Public Health Agency and the Education Authority are providing support and advice to Leaney Primary School."
