Man requires surgery after having neck slashed with stanley knife in Belfast

A Belfast man requires surgery after his neck was slashed with a stanley knife. 

The victim, who is 28, was approached from behind while in the back garden of a property on Mill Race at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon. 

The assailant made off on foot however a 27-year-old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of attempted murder. 

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives have arrested a 27 year old man on suspicion of attempted murder after a man sustained a large wound to his throat in an incident in Mill Race, Belfast yesterday, Saturday 10 July.

“It’s understood the 28 year old victim was in the back garden of a property at around 3.30pm when he was approached from behind and slashed across the neck with a stanley knife.

“The suspect made off from the scene on foot however a short time later officers detained a 27 year old man in connection with the attack.

“The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which will require surgery.

“Detectives at Musgrave CID are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them by calling 101, quoting reference 1826 10/07/21.”
