Police are to meet with Sinn Fein's John Finucane after he received messages that are said to have mocked and supported the murder of his father.
Pat Finucane was gunned down by loyalists in front of his family in north Belfast in 1989.
The election candidate said he's made a complaint to the PSNI and that the tweets will now be subject to a criminal investigation.
It's believed the lawyer received three direct messages,
"One further tweet expresses regret that I too was not murdered along with my father.
"I am meeting with police again tomorrow about it as its my view it clearly crosses the line and could constitute a number of offences.
"It's been reported to Twitter also."
