Teenager kicked and beaten with metal bars after an attack in north Belfast

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with an attack in north Belfast yesterday morning, police have revealed.

A 17-year-old boy was punched, kicked and beaten with metal bars by a gang of four at around 2 am this morning.

The victim had his mobile phone stolen and was left baldy shaken following the incident.

The 18 and 16 year-old suspects have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Sergeant Moore said: “Shortly after 1:45am, it was reported that a 17 year old male was walking in the area when he was assaulted by four males. The male received injuries to his face, arms and back as he was punched, kicked and struck by metal bars during the incident. The male had his mobile phone stolen following the assault. The male, whose injuries are not believed to be serious was left badly shaken following the incident.

"The males, who were arrested on suspicion of robbery have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone  who witnessed the incident to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 221 13/07/20.
