A 32 year old man has been charged in connection with the discovery of a cannabis factory in Warrenpoint.
It was uncovered at a flat in the Great Georges Street South area at around 11.15pm on Friday 13th February, when police received a report of a fire.
NIFRS forced entry to the property and located the cannabis factory.
Police also recovered a large quantity of Euro notes and a number of mobile phones.
The man is charged with possession of a Class B controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of criminal property.
He is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15 February.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of criminal property has been released unconditionally.
Inspector Gerard Doherty said: “We are committed to tackling the illegal supply and use of drugs, and will continue to investigate those who profit from the consequent misery and harm.
“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and I would ask any member of the public who has any information which could be of assistance to police to contact the Police on non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
