A 12 -year-old boy has been charged with a number of offences, including attempted robbery, after takeaway staff in Craigavon were threatened with a knife and a hammer.

We're told two children demanded money when it happened in the Legahory centre just before 11pm on Friday night.

It comes as the PSNI says it's "inexcusable" the officers responding to the incident were targeted with a petrol bomb.

Another boy - who's 14 - has also been charged with a number of offences including attempted robbery.

He's due before Lisburn Magistrates tomorrow.

A spokesperson for the service said:

"A 14 year old male has been charged with attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.

"He's expected to appear in court in Lisburn on Monday 20 August.

"As is usual procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

"The charges follow an attempted robbery at a takeaway in Legahory, Craigavon on Friday.
