Ireland ran out 40-29 winners over New Zealand at Soldier Field in Chicago last night
In 111 years of competetive rugby, Ireland had never before beaten New Zealand. That record is now gone as an outsdanding Irish performance meant Joe Schmidt's men beat the three-times world champions 40-29.
Ulster hooker Rory Best captained the Irish side which ended the All Blacks record 18 game winning streak. Tries from Jordi Murphy, CJ Stander and Conor Murray helped the Irish to a 25-8 half-time lead.

Simon Zebo scored Ireland's fourth try, then a late Rob Henshaw score put an end to the New Zealand fightback.

Prior to the game, when facing the famous New Zealand Haka the Irish players formed a figure-of-8 in memory of the late Ireland Rugby legend Anthony Foley. Foley died sudfdenly last month in Paris aged 42.
Ireland now return home from America to play out the remainder of their Autum Internationals. Next up is a game at the Aviva aghainst Canada.
For now though, the players can enjoy an achievement no Irish side before them has managed.
