A man from Northern Ireland is facing multiple charges of manslaughter over the deaths of 39 people found in a container in the UK.
UK authorities alleged he delivered the trailer to the Belgian port of Zeebrugge before its onward journey to Britain.
23 year old Eamonn Harrison from Mayobridge in county Down appeared before the High Court in Dublin this morning.
His appearance followed the endorsement of a European Arrest Warrant yesterday.
A Garda Sergeant told the court there were 41 offences listed in the warrant.
They include 39 manslaughter charges, conspiracy to commit human trafficking and immigration offences.
Harrison was remanded in custody until the 11th of November.
Essex Police said extradition proceedings have started to bring Harrison back to the UK.
It comes as local media reported police in Vietnam's Ha Tinh province arrested two people in connection with the deaths after launching an investigation into suspected human trafficking.
