The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service is seeking volunteers for Cookstown.
Volunteers will provide fire safety advice at community events and distribute leaflets.
The call comes during Volunteers’ Week.
It’s in a bid to help the Fire Service reduce the number of accidental house fires.
Alan Walmsley, Assistant Chief Fire & Rescue Officer, says they want to involve volunteers to increase the reach and capacity of the organisation in delivering fire safety messages.
“Volunteers bring a wealth of experience, skills and enthusiasm which we intend to harness through a wide range of activities including distributing fire safety in the leaflets in the community, delivering fire safety advice and supporting local community events,” he explains.
NIFRS is looking for volunteers from all walks of life.
Each volunteer will be fully trained, have expenses reimbursed and they will be provided with a NIFRS uniform.
Application packs are available to download from the website www.nifrs.org
The closing date for applications is Monday 19 June.
