A post mortem is to be carried out on the body of a man pulled from the sea off the Co.Down coast.

The human remains were picked up in fishing nets by a local trawler between here and the Isle of Man at around 1am.

The harbour area of Portavogie was sealed off after the vessel returned to shore.

Earlier a PSNI spokesman said: "Police are currently at Portavogie Harbour following the discovery of human remains at sea.

"Efforts are underway to establish the identity and a cause of death for the deceased.

The trawler was later allowed to set sail again.
