Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Kim Ashton, has pledged her support for the Superstars Club, Cookstown in their National Lottery People’s Projects Campaign which could see the club receive up to £50,000 of funding.
The Chair is encouraging everyone in the district to get behind and support the campaign by voting for the inspiring charity which provides life enhancing opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
“During my time as Chair I have become increasingly aware of the incredible work the Superstars Club in Cookstown carries out for the local community.
"Theclub-which offers a lifeline for those living with a learning disability, and their families- has already grown remarkably from its creation in 2005 going from one club, one night a month to now providing clubs which run four evenings a week and a social enterprise café in the town!
“This is all due to the phenomenal commitment, effort and selflessness of the volunteers who so generously dedicate their time to the club.
"Superstars was recently recognised by the Council for winning a prestigious Queen’s Award, the MBE for volunteer groups, so winning the National Lottery’s People’s Projects competition would be a fantastic boost for the club.
“The money would enable the club to continue, and even increase, the excellent service they provide which makes a huge difference to countless lives in the district. Your votes really count.
"To vote for Superstars Club go to www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk and select the ‘Multi Sports for Multi Disabilities’ project when the vote opens at 9am on Monday 16th April.”
The vote closes at 12 noon on Monday 30th April 2018.
