Police in Magherafelt have been thanked for their involvement in helping to find a 12 year old child who was missing at the weekend.
Chief Inspector Robinson said they responded to a report of a missing person in the Maghera area shortly after 3pm on Sunday, 3rd December.
"Police conducted a search and located a young boy in a river in the Craigadick Road area."
Officers entered the water due to concerns for the child's safety and health as the water was extremely cold, and helped retrieve the boy who was subsequently taken to Antrim Area Hospital for treatment.
The Chief Inspector added:
"This was outstanding Police work by all the officers involved, if it has not been for their actions this could have been a very different outcome."
