Man and woman arrested over hit and run in north Belfast

A 40-year-old man and a woman aged 38 have been arrested after a hit and run incident in north Belfast.

A BMW car mounted the kerb on the Antrim Road on Friday night and struck a man in his forties.

He was then assaulted by a man and woman who reportedly got out of the car and then made off after the attack.

The victim suffered a broken leg.

Chief Inspector Kelly Moore said: “At around 10:30pm, it was reported that a grey BMW 118 car mounted the kerb and struck a man in his 40s. It is believed that a male and female then exited the vehicle and assaulted the man in the area. The male is believed to have suffered a broken leg following the incident.

“Both were arrested on suspicion of a number of related offences and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in the area and has dashcam footage, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 2109 17/07/20.  You can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.
