Detectives are investigating a "creeper style" burglary at a residential premises in the Beechlands area of South Belfast.
It happened at around 5.30am yesterday morning.
Police say entry was gained to the home through a rear patio door and a grey Volvo was stolen along with money.
Shortly after 7am, the same vehicle was involved in a two car crash at Glengall Street in the city.
It's understood the stolen car made off from the scene and four people in the other vehicle sustained minor injuries as a result.
At around 7.10am, the Volvo was reported again to have caused damage to street furniture in the Hope Street and Great Victoria Street areas.
The driver fled the scene but was apprehended by officers a short time later in Sandy Row and arrested.
A spokesperson for the PSNI says, “A 26 year old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, burglary, taking and driving away, assault on police, no insurance, resisting police, dangerous driving and disorderly behaviour. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries."
