A 41-year-old man has been arrested following a burglary in north Belfast.
The occupants of a property confronted an intruder in their garage on Shore Road at around 3.45am this morning.
The suspect was caught shortly after fleeing the scene and is accused of being in possession of Class A, B and C drugs.
Detective Sergeant Eric Fairfield said: “At around 3:45am, it was reported that a male entered a residential garage beside a house in the area.
"It was reported the male had placed a number of items into a car parked in the garage. The occupants of the property then confronted the male, who then made off towards the Fairview area following the incident.
“A short time later, the male was arrested in the Waveney Avenue area on suspicion of burglary with intent to steal, going equipped for theft, possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of a Class C controlled drug. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Shore Road area at the time of the incident, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 292 24/05/20.
