Mid Ulster residents urged to check broadband postcode list ahead of investment

The Department for the Economy is asking broadband suppliers and members of the public, to help ensure they have correctly identified all postcodes that contain premises which are unable to access 30 megabits per second broadband services. 

It's ahead of a substantial investment in telecoms infrastructure. 

Chair of Mid Ulster Council, Councillor Sean McPeake, is encouraging people across the district with poor broadband access to check their postcodes are included on the list: 

“The most recent figures show that Mid Ulster has the second worst broadband access here, with 12% of households affected by poor service.

"This is an opportunity for local people who do not have the connectivity they need – more than 30megabits - to ensure that their postcodes are identified and included on the list for much-needed investment in our telecoms infrastructure.

“For anyone who can’t check online, hard copy lists are available at our council offices in Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt and in local libraries, and you can also call the Department for the Economy on 028 9052 9352”.
