Milltown play park in Dungannon recently had new playing equipment installed after funding was granted to the council by the Housing Executive.
A spokesperson for Mid Ulster District Council said:
"In a joint project involving Mid Ulster District Council and the Milltown Area Community Association, the Housing Executive contacted the local community about accessing European funding that was available to communities across Northern Ireland.
"Through discussions with the community association, it was agreed that we enhance the local play park by installing a basket net swing."
With £5,000 funding from the Housing Executive and some "inter-agency collaboration", the old equipment was removed from the park, the rest of the area has been transformed with the addition of it's new net swing.
Speaking at the launch of the play park, the Housing Executive's Mid Ulster Area Manager, Michael Dallat said:
“By working in partnership with Milltown Area Community Association and Mid Ulster District Council, the Housing Executive has been able to access BRIC2 European funding to upgrade this play park.
"It was a pleasure to collaborate on this project and produce something the local community are benefiting from.”
Councillor Kim Ashton, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council was also at the launch. She said:
“We are delighted to see the play park improved for all the residents in Milltown.
"By working in partnership with the Housing Executive and the Milltown Area Community Association, we have brought about a new focus for the local community and through the power of play and provision of this brand new equipment, we hope to create many happy memories for the residents of our District for years to come!”
