A Newcastle teenager has been remanded in custody after attempting to kill two people.

Michael Cunningham was found with a knife last Friday night.

The 19-year-old, who's unemployed and from Hunter's Walk in the Co Down town, spoke only to confirm the charges against him at Newtownards Magistrates Court.

Two males sustained stab wounds on the Bryansford Road around midnight on December 21.

No bail application was lodged with Mr Cunningham due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on January 3.
