People in Mid Ulster are being urged to vote for their favourite local park or green space for the 'People's Choice Award'.

Three locations in the district have been shortlisted, after already receiving the prestigious Green Flag Accolade in the Summer.

That includes the Hill of the O'Neill in Dungannon, Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden.

Now, this awards scheme gives locals the chance to have their say and decide which of this year's winners should receive the People’s Choice Awards for being the UK’s and the world's favourites.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Cllr. Sean McPeake encouraged residents to get behind the three local sites in the campaign saying,

“We are extremely proud of our green spaces across the district, and were delighted from a Mid Ulster perspective that The Hill of The O’Neill joined Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden in winning the accolade this year.

“The People’s Choice Award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. We think our area is worth shouting about, so we’re asking residents to make their voices heard and vote now.”

To vote you can find your favourite Mid Ulster green space on the Award Winners tab map at http://www.greenflagaward.org.uk/

Then open the description and click the voting button on the right.

Voting takes place until 30 September, with the top 10 sites in the UK and top ten internationally being announced on 16 October.
