Police in Mid Ulster have donated almost £800 to the local horse riding centre for those with disabities, to go towards improving their security.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said:

"We were extremely pleased to donate £774 to the Fort Riding for the Disabled Centre in Maghera. This will go some way towards the installation of CCTV.

"Following on from the the issues around the Fort last summer with anti-social behaviour in and around the area, Neighbourhood Policing Officers from Magherafelt, along with the PCSP and the crime prevention officer, have worked with the staff to improve their security.

"We are delighted that this will go some way to providing added security for the centre."

Last summer, some of the horses and ponies at the riding centre were attacked and abused by "anti-social youths", and at the time there was no CCTV which could have possibly prevented the incident.
