Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden were among 59 green spaces in Northern Ireland to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award.
A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, maintained well and has high class facilities.
It's awarded by the Environmental Charity, Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
Now both green areas in Mid Ulster will be flying the Green Flag in recognition of the quality of their green space and the hard work and dedication put into sustaining it.
Deputy Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Mark Glasgow, who attended the ceremony said:
"It is a great honour for the Council to be awarded not one, but two Green Flags for the outstanding Dungannon Park and Maghera Walled Garden.
This remarkable achievement is testament to the hard work our staff put in to ensure that our high quality green spaces are as accessible, environmentally sustainable, and as pleasant to use as they possibly can be for members of the public.”
Dr Ian Humphreys, Chief Executive of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, said:
"With many people increasingly relying on their local park as a place to exercise, relax and have fun, quality green space has never been more important.
"Research shows that people will only visit a park if they perceive it to be clean and safe; and the Green Flag Award is an easy way for the public to see at a glance that their park meets the highest standards.
"All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the hundreds of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award."
