Former Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill returned to his old stamping ground of Windsor Park on Saturday afternoon.

But this time at the National Stadium he was in charge of the visitors, Stoke City.

The Championship side made the trip to Belfast for a behind-closed-doors, pre-season game with Linfield.

Stoke finished 1-0 winners - Josh Tymon scored in the 36th minute.

The game was a warm-up for the Blues ahead of Tuesday's Champions League first round qualifier against Legia Warsaw in Poland.

Two home players had to go off injured - full-back Ethan Boyle, then central defender Jimmy Callacher limped off, leaving Linfield to see out the dying minutes with 10 men.
