Michael O'Neill's side fortunate to come out of Prague with a point
In what was Northern Ireland's first game since reaching the last 16 of Euro 2016, Northern Ireland found themselves unable to muster much in the way of attack as they played out a rather drab draw with the Czech Republic.It was a game of minimal chances for Michael O'Neill's side as they only carved out one good attempt on goal.
An away draw will perhaps eventually prove to be an important point, however there will be a sense that more could have been achieved against a largely unimpressive Czech side. Northern Ireland rarely go into their stride with the likes of Kyle Lafferty looking short of match practice. Lafferty is just one of many N.I. players who aren't getting much first team experience for their clubs as Michael O'Neill would like. That lack of match practice could prove to be the biggest problem facing the Northern Ireland side with others such as Steve Davis and Paddy McNair not really producing on the night.

O'Neill can take heart in the defensive performance of his team with Jonny Evans and veteran midfielder Gareth McAuley often outstanding. Furthermore, an away point against one of the more obvious rivals for second place in the group has its value.
Next up for Northern Ireland is an October date with minnows San Marino in Belfast.
