The Republic of Ireland striker scored 67 goals in 145 appearances
Republic of Ireland legend Robbie Keane will hang up his international boots after the friendly with Oman on the 31st August. The L.A. Galaxy striker is Ireland's record goalscorer with 67 strikes in his 145 appearances.
On Wednesday, Keane was named in the squad for the Republic of Ireland's opening World Cup qualifier against Serbia in September. However the former Wolves, Spurs and Inter Milan striker confirmed the Oman friendly will be his last international.
Praise for Keane's international service has come from everywhere, with the Irish President Michael D. Higgins among those saluting Keane. The President called Keane one of Ireland's greatest ever players.

Meanwhile, former Irish international goalkeeper Shay Given had nothing but praise for Keane calling him the "face of the team" and adding that it was an honour to play with him.

Among current players, Robbie Keane has more international goals than any other active player, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. It's a record Keane will hang on to until the end of August, when one of Ireland's greatest, says farewell to the Green Army.
