Live music at The Belfast Maritime Festival

9 & 10 September 2023

Celebrating Belfast’s status as a UNESCO City of Music, over 100 of Northern Ireland’s leading musicians will be performing in outdoor venues across the Maritime Mile – all admission free.  Belfast City Council will be showcasing a fabulous programme, including americana, trad, jazz, opera, bluegrass, classical, indie and folk artists. 

 

Highlights include NI Music Prize winners such as Joshua Burnside, Winnie Ama, Sasha Samara and ROE, the extraordinary Duke Special who will be celebrating 21 years since his first album release, NI’s leading live soul band Manukahunney, two decades of Irish folk music with the Rapparees, premieres especially commissioned for the festival, new collaborations, the 30-piece Downshire Brass, and on Sunday 10th Sept, come and experience the power of 25 opera voices performing much-loved classic works together, presented by the award-winning Northern Ireland Opera.

 

Artists include Bernadette Morris, Broken String Band, Clay Pigeons, David Browne Murray, Dander, Downshire Brass, Duke Special, Eilis Phillips, Eleanor Gaffney, Emily McCormick, Emma Doran, Eva Kearney, Jack Warnock, Jackie Rainey, Joshua Burnside, Junior Johnson, King Cedar, Lauren O’Neill, Maggie Maguire, Mary McCabe, Manukahunney, Myles McCormack, Northern Ireland Opera, Pearse Larkin, Phil d’Alton, Rapparees, Roe, Rory Nellis, Sasha Samara, Two’s Company, Winnie Ama and Zac Mac.

NOTES TO THE EDITOR

Belfast Maritime Festival will welcome a flotilla of vessels and ships to Queen's Quay and Belfast Harbour Marina on 9th and 10th September. Taking place along the city’s Maritime Mile, with entertainment stretching across Queen’s Quay to HMS Caroline in the Titanic Quarter, the festival celebrates Belfast’s rich maritime heritage and spirit of innovation. In addition to music, free events include the first-ever ‘Science Street’ exploring topics such as navigation, marine biology, climate change and biodiversity, the Belfast Bazaar, featuring the very best local produce and crafts, photography exhibitions and a Kids’ Zone.
