A Newry councillor's calling for the owners of three dogs that killed a dozen sheep to come forward.
A farmer escaped serious injury when he tried to fend off the hounds at his Ballsmill farm.
It happened on Sunday morning.
As well as slaughtering twelve sheep, many of the herd were left injured.
Sinn Fein's Terry Hearty says the issue "goes to the heart of responsible pet ownership and public safety."
He told Q Radio, "An Alsatian dog really does the killing when it comes to sheep. This dog hadn't been closed in at night, it hadn't been tied [up].
To leave an animal like that in the countryside where there's sheep... is a crazy thing to do."
Mr Hearty added, "This farmer had an awful day, not only did he have to gather up his dead sheep but he had to set up a table in a shed and carry the wounded in to the vet which is very expensive."
