Q Radio understands the Audit Office has found a local council didn't do anything wrong in connection with a dinner hosted by North Antrim MP, Ian Paisley.
The Causeway Coast and Glens authority paid £1,500 for a table at what was reportedly a DUP fundraiser last September.
The Audit Office is said to think it would cost too much to take further action but have recommended in future no payments are made to events with political links.
Separately, The Electoral Commission is looking into Mid and East Antrim Borough Council's decision to sponsor a table at the same dinner.
Meanwhile and a recall petition for the North Antrim MP closes this week.
Ian Paisley was suspended from the House of Commons for failing to declare two holidays to Sri Lanka paid for by the country's government.
His constituents have until tomorrow to sign a petition on whether there should be a by-election.
