Hundreds of people have packed into St Mary’s Church in Derry-Londonderry for the funeral of Karol Kelly this afternoon.
The 35 year old father of 5 was stabbed to death on Rosemount's Grafton Street one week ago.
There were heartbreaking scenes as the funeral procession made its way through the streets of Creggan.
His family sobbed as they walked behind the hearse bearing his coffin and floral tributes saying "Daddy" and "Best Friend".
Inside the church Karol’s children brought gifts to the altar. A Gorilla teddy bear to represent his protectiveness over his daughters, a tracksuit to mirror the time spent with his sons and a family portrait to represent Karol’s deep love of his family.
Parish Priest, Father Joseph Gormley, told the congregation that Karol would not want his children growing up in such a merciless world.
He said we all must recognise the need for mercy to ensure this does not happen.
Me Kelly is to be buried in the nearby City Cemetery.
