The Irish Foreign Affairs Minister's commitment as co-guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement is being welcomed.
At a business briefing in Newry yesterday Charlie Flanagan led discussions on Brexit.
He emphasised his commitment to the Agreement, and assured local businesses, the South will pursue their interests.
Mary Meehan from Newry Chamber of Commerce hosted the event.
She said, "We were very pleased and we were very encouraged to hear the Minister emphasise his obligations and duties to Northern Ireland. His role as co-guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement was certainly very encouraging to hear.
"And he emphasised his duty to ensure that the GFA... is implemented in this very serious negotiations ahead, so from our point of view that was very, very reassuring."
