The Southern Trust is to hold a public meeting today, the first since it revealed a local hospital was 'vulnerable'.
According to the Trust, Daisy Hill in Newry has a shortage of permanent senior emergency staff.
It's run mainly by locum doctors.
In a statement it said the Emergency Department faces a short-term shutdown if the situation worsens, it expects the availability of locum doctors to fall in the summer months.
A spokesperson for the Trust said this morning's meeting will be an update on progress and more can be expected as the situation is being resolved,
