Potential passengers who bought early bird tickets to travel on the Carlingford Ferry in June will be refunded.
That's from Frazer Ferries CEO Pamela Houston.
It follows an extended delay to the ferry's maiden voyage which was scheduled for the beginning of the month.
Ms Houston maintains that late delivery of navigation aides are holding up the first sailing.
She said, "We will have a passenger service fully operational as soon as we can get that final piece of equipment in place. We are looking forward to getting into service and allowing the public to access the sensational views of the Mourne and Cooley Mountains from the middle of the Lough."
Tickets to travel on the first passenger and vehicle ferry to cross the lough are valid for 90 days.
