The Southern Health and Social Care Trust is asking for patients and carers interested in Palliative Care or End of Life Care Services to share their views to help improve services.
Palliative Care is the active holistic care of patients with a progressive, non-curative life – limiting illness, for example advanced respiratory disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, heart failure or dementia.
It also includes those people who are actively living with their illness and those who may be approaching the end of their life.
The Trust’s Palliative Care Experience Group works with staff to share feedback and suggestions on how these services can be improved.
Inviting new members to join the group, Interim Director of Older People and Primary Care for the Southern Trust Melanie McClements said:
“We are continually looking for ways to improve the services we offer to patients and their families.
"We want to keep our palliative patients at the centre of all of our decisions and make sure we are focussing on all aspects of their care, physically, socially and emotionally, in order to maximise their quality of life.
“We would love to hear from patients, carers or anyone interested in palliative and end of life care to share your views with us, tell us what matters to you and hear how you think we can improve the services we offer.”
To find out more about the Palliative Care Experience Group you are invited to attend an information meeting on Thursday 31st of May 2018 at 10.30am in the Callan Room, St Luke’s Hospital, Armagh.
