David McAlinden is the new manager of Carrick Rangers.

He takes over at Taylor's Avenue having left East Antrim rivals Larne at the end of last season.

The 33-year-old was captain of the Carrick team that won the Championship and Intermediate Cup in 2011.

He's also a former Cliftonville player and coach.

Meanwhile Cliftonville have signed Northern Ireland under-21 international centre-back Jamie Harney.

The 21-year-old moves from Colchester United and had previously been with West Ham after coming through the Maiden City Academy in Derry/Londonderry.

Last year's club captain Jason McGuinness and goalkeeper Peter Burke have both left the Reds.
