Peter O'Mahony has come a long way in the space of 3 months.
The Munster back row star wasn't due to play in the final match with England in the 6 Nations.
Cue an injury to Jamie Heaslip, and a man-of-the-match performance for O'Mahony at home to the eventual tournament winners, and he was once again being spoken of as a potential Lions test starter.
He was then named in the touring squad on April 12.
It was his showing as skipper in the 32-10 win over the Maori All Blacks that firmly pressed his case for the test role, as well as Sam Warburton's issues with injury and lack of match time.
He says he never imagined he would be skipper.
The Lions have now a midweek win on tour, against the Chiefs, coupled with victories over the Provincial Barbarians and Crusaders, ahead of their big showdown with the All Blacks at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday.

Warren Gatland has made a few unpredicted selections, with England's Elliot Daly on the wing, and Liam Williams starting at fullback.
Ireland's Tadhg Furlong will be in the front row, with Sean O'Brien at openside flanker and Conor Murray partnering Owen Farrell in the halfbacks.
Jack McGrath and Johnny Sexton will be on the bench.
