A major fire at Foyle Port in Derry/Londonderry has been now been extinguished.
Earlier five fire engines were involved in tackling the blaze which broke out at a shed on the site.
Three were from the Crescent Link Fire Station and two were from the Northland Fire Station
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the blaze just before 11am this morning.
Group Commander with the fire service William Johnston updated Q Radio when the blaze was still ongoing:
A spokesperson for Foyle Port said: “We can confirm that the shed fire at Foyle Port this morning has been extinguished and the area is under control. We are now in the process of establishing the cause.”
“Away from the immediate location of the fire, the wider operations of the Port remain unaffected.”
“We are thankful that there were no injuries and that everyone is safe and well. We commend the work of the Emergency Services for their quick and effective response this morning and also to the local community for their cooperation and understanding.”
