A former Antrim hurler's been charged with assault and fined £500 after using a hurley as an offensive weapon.
Thirty-five year-old Liam Watson of Scally Park in Loughgiel and his dad Patrick Watson who's 56 and at the same address, were charged in connection with an altercation that took place last November.
Police were called out after a man claimed he was punched in the face by the former hurler and hit on the elbow with a hurley by Patrick Watson.
Both men who pled guilty to the charges against them yesterday at Coleraine Magistrates Court, claimed they'd been 'terrorised' in the week leading up to the assault.
