Caring Caretaker Davy Boyle presented £39,000 in total to six different charities
Davy Boyle, otherwise known as the Caring Caretaker made his annual cheque presentation at the Lodge Hotel yesterday
Almost £40,000 pounds was handed over to six different charities, including the Boom Foundation and Riding for the Disabled. There was also £11,000 each for three different cancer charities.
Davy's most famous fundraising activity is his annual Christmas sit out, when he is ever-present in the Diamond, Coleraine until Christmas Eve. It was during this year's sit-out that Davy surpassed the 'half-million mark raised' since 2001
'Friends of the Cancer Centre' was one of the causes to receive a five-figure sum, and charity worker Colleen Shaw was on hand to accept a cheque from Davy. "It will help support our nurses" said Colleen "those nurses are the lynchpin for any cancer patient's journey"
Colleen had plenty of praise for Davy, who has since raised over half a million pounds for charity since starting back in 2001. "It's fantastic that he does what he does" said Colleen "there doesn't seem to be any stopping him".
The Coleraine Committee of Cancer Research UK were also given £11,000 and the committee said they were "honoured to receive it"
Davy thanked everybody involved in his fundraising, and all those who helped publicise his fundraising campaing. He also thanked everybody who has made a donation to his causes over the years
Davy has raised a total of £524,571.25 since beginning his charitable exploits sixteen years ago.
