A Coleraine dad who fought a long-running legal battle over taking his child on a term-time holiday is coming to terms with a 'guilty' verdict.
John Platt has been convicted of failing to secure his daughter's regular attendance at school.
He was given a 12 month discharge and ordered to pay two thousand pounds costs at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
Delivering her judgement Magistrate Jeannie Walker said " The circumstances of this case fall squarely into that breach of school rules".
