A former Assistant Chief Constable of the PSNI has warned of a possible security threat during the election campaign in Northern Ireland.
Last night legislation to hold an early general election on the 12th of December received royal assent.
It means the nation will now go to the polls for the third time in four years, with the election the first once held in December since 1923.

The ex head of the UK Assets Recovery Agency also says the latest Brexit delay will help give more time to prepare for any potential security implications.
The UK was supposed to have left the EU by now, but it still hasn't happened because Prime Minister Boris Johnson can't get his Brexit deal through parliament.
