Q Radio News

The sister of murdered journalist Lyra McKee is calling on IRA dissidents to abandon plans to ramp up their campaign of violence - and instead join a new process to find lasting peace here...

Nichola Corner has been speaking to Q Radio in the wake of weekend claims dissidents intend to mount a fresh bombing campaign to coincide with uncertainty over Brexit.

29-year-old Lyra died after being shot by a New IRA gunman during rioting in the Creggan district of Derry/Londonderry in April.

Her grieving sister says armed groups must let go of violence...

Nichola said those encouraging or attempting to justify dissident attacks should be prosecute ...

She also had a message for the politicians on the Stormont stalemate and Brexit - they need to "grow up" and realise compromise is the only answer...

Lyra was honoured at Stormont on Saturday at an event which had the theme of imaging a new and exciting future.

The award-winning writer had spoken at a previous TEDx event in Parliament Buildings two years ago.

Nichola followed in her footsteps with an impassioned speech which received a standing ovation.
