A man has been arrested by Gardai investigating the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe in January 2013.

The suspect, who's aged in his 30s, was detained in the Dundalk area before 8.30am this morning.

He is currently being held at Dundalk Garda Station.

Detective Donohoe was shot outside the Lordship Credit Union, County Louth during a raid.

The arrest comes six months after a Co Armagh man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Mr Donohoe.

Aaron Brady, 29,  from New Road in Crossmaglen, was found guilty in August last year of murdering the detective during the robbery of Lordship Credit Union.
