An MLA is urging police to encourage the public to submit dash cam footage in a bid to secure more evidence for prosecutions.
Justice committee chair Paul Frew wrote to the PSNI Chief Constable saying public footage could bring investigations to more successful conclusions.
Police are assessing the quality of dash cam evidence and the resources they have available to handle submissions from the public.
In a statement Mr Frew said, "It's good to know that there is already a mechanism in place to deal with submissions in the PSNI and that the Chief Constable has [staff making] contact with some of the GB services to ascertain levels of reporting from the public, mechanisms for assessing the quality of the evidence and staffing profile to meet the demand."
