Police have issued a reminder that vehicle access is prohibited from the pedestrian zone of Coleraine without a valid permit
Police in Coleraine are reming the public that vehicles require permits for routine acces to the pedestrian zone.
PSNI Sergeant Michael O’Loan says “Access to the town centre in vehicle is by permit only. The permit should be displayed on the dashboard/windscreen and should stipulate the days and times that access is allowed.
“Vehicles without a permit can only be in the pedestrian area to load or unload heavy goods between 12pm and 1.30pm and 4pm and 5.30pm. Blue badge holders are not allowed to drive in the pedestrian zone unless they have a permit."
Those found ddriving in the pedestrian area without a permit you can end up facing a £30 fixed penalty ticket. The PSNI says are doing as much as we can to "educate people" about who can drive their car in the pedestrian. However they added that they expect people to abide by the regulations.”
Permits can be obtained from the Department of Infrastructure.
