Comedian, Peter Kay has cancelled his 2018 arena tour because of what he described as 'unforeseen family circumstances".
In a statement he said "Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
"This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.
"My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I'm sure you'll understand my family must always come first.
Kay went on to say he's always endeavoured to protect his family’s privacy from the media.
"I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again I'm very sorry."
The series of live shows were Kay's first in over eight years and were set to hit the road in April 2018 in Birmingham, beofre travelling across the UK and Ireland for over a year.
In a statement on Twitter, the Guiness World Record's "most successful stand-up comedian of all time" said it was with "deep regret" he was forced to cancel the shows.
