Officers have escaped injury following "reckless" and "despicable" attack in Co Tyrone.
The side and rear of their patrol vehicle was damaged when a piece of masonry was thrown at it in Dungannon last night.
It happened in the vicinity of Ballygawley Road at approximately 9:45pm.
Inspector Gibson expressed gratitude that the officers were able to continue with their duties following the "reckless attack".
He's appealing to parents to know where their kids are following anti-social behaviour in the area.
"Our officers were on patrol to keep people safe during this unprecedented health crisis," he added.
"Instead, they found themselves targeted in what can only be described as a senseless and despicable attack.
"This could have had serious consequences, and I want to appeal to anyone who has information that can help us identify who was responsible to call us on 101, and quote reference number 1480 of 02/04/20 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
Inspector Gibson added: "Just prior to the attack last night, we received a report of a group of youths in the same area, engaging in anti-social behaviour where a door of a property had been kicked.
"To those involved, you need to realise your behaviour is dangerous. It is not fun for anyone and it has to stop. It is already a stressful enough time for people. No-one needs or deserves this.
“Parents and guardians, I am appealing to you to do everything you can to prevent your child and loved ones from this unacceptable behaviour. Know where your children are, who they are with and what they are doing."
