An investigation continues after damage was caused to an RNLI lifeboat in Portrush.
Vandals boarded the vessel while it was docked in the harbour over the weekend.
Police say they broke the lock off an internal cabin and tried to tamper with the throttle.
Damage was minor and the lifeboat is still seaworthy for emergencies but the act has been condemened as despicable.
East Londonderry MLA John Dallat said the intruders "can't get any lower".
"These lifeboats are responsible for rescuing people day and daily and they are manned by volunteers who risk their lives in all kinds of weather," he continued.
"What a contrast with the vandals who should hide their heads in shame for what they did.
"I have no recollection of this happening before and I hope those involved are before the courts and hopefully the seriousness of their crime will be fully understood when deciding an appropriate penalty for interfering in the honourable work of saving lives at sea."
Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with police.
